October 10, 2008 – Thank You! October 10, 2008

First off, I would like to thank all of the readers for their support over the last year, our sixth since we began in 2003. It is your comments, interaction with one another and thirst for the best coverage of the independent Atlantic League anywhere that keep us going strong. So strong, in fact, we were able to surpass over 1,000 days of news coverage this season.

Also, thank you to all of the front office staffs, players and coaches for their help. Without these three groups we would have no news to write about every single day.

I also want to say thank you to Mike for his hard work this season. As I’ve moved on in part with other career ventures, Mike, despite having another beat, continued to cover the Atlantic League as hard as anybody. He did a majority of the work this season and for that I’m thankful.

We will be back again in 2009. Before next season, however, Mike and I have a lot to talk about in terms of coverage. He and I, again, will be very busy with our other sports coverage and will need to formulate a plan to keep the news fresh. We’ve already discussed some ideas and we look forward to sharing them with you in the near future.

This off-season you can expect to see player features, interviews and news. Also, Mike still has lots of coverage from the Patriots championship victory.

I did this last season and Mike and I were very grateful to everyone who helped us out, so I’m going to throw it out there again. If you would like to donate (any amount helps, really) to help support the site and its costs (hosting, travel, time, etc.) we would really appreciate it. Here’s the link or use the PayPal button on the bottom right.

Keep clicking the banner up above, as well.

As always, let Mike and I know any comments, questions or suggestions you may have. Our email addresses are on the right. We’ll talk again soon…

Thanks and have a great off-season!
Scott

Scott & Mike we are happy to contribute and will do so immediately. Thank you for your efforts throughout the year. We do not always agree with your perspectives but you provide all of us with a public forum in which to discuss all of the issues concerning this league. Though you probably know better I do believe you would do just as well at least without the teams' staffs. I know we could do with a little less of the stay on message and press release mentality they put forth. Those who refuse to recognize their flaws are doomed to failure by them.

I do hope your message does not mean that you intend to shut down for the off-season and that we can continue the discussions that important to all of us. The Patriots Championship stories are fine and I look forward to them, but that is old news now and there are more important issues to be discussed like the player salaries. There has been some great commentary on this recently and I know we would like to see it continue.

Your independence provides us with an opportunity to argue and debate and to get at the facts as it were.

I said it before and I will say it again. No players–no league. These are human beings and professional athletes and they deserve respect. Respect means fair and reasonable compensation.

Lets talk about it.

God Bless all.
