Housel, Alvarez Releases Provide Interesting Question: Courier News scribe Ryan Dunleavy brings up an interesting topic on his blog.

With the recent releases of David Housel and Gera Alvarez — both players who had been with the club all season — by the Somerset Patriots, should they get a championship ring if the team should be fortunate enough to go all the way.

Check out what Dunleavy has to say, and feel free to weigh in with your own comments.

Dunleavy also has a neat feature on Ryan Radmanovich and an interesting tie he has currently has to Bobby Thomson. – MA

Just speaks wonders for the league. To release two players whom have been there all season with ten games left!?! What a joke! Housel is probably the best utility player in the league!!(If you can name a better one let me know!). Just got to show how this league is treating it’s players! Keep it up and no quality players will want to play here. With the decline of player treatement it will be interesting to see how the “elite” atlantic league continues. Owners making a killing, player getting disrespected!

Housel would look awfully good in a Sharks uniform. He’s already hitting higher than half the lineup. By the way, if Rick Asadoorian is still around we could sure use some pitching help, too.

Baseball is a cold buisness,no matter what league it is. But unfortunatly,The Pat’s have to do what they feel is right for a chance to win the championship. I feel bad for Housel and Alveraz. I certainly hope they are awarded rings should the Pat’s win the championship.

Nice piece on Radmanovich. He has been one of the most feared sluggers in the league since I started following in 2005.
If memory serves me correctly, didn’t Rad hit a big triple against team USA in the last world cup of baseball? I remember thinking how cool it was to see an A.L. player do something that well on the big stage.

Yes, Rad had a big triple in the last WBC. He is hoping to play for Canada in the WBC this coming March, too.

Thanks for the confirmation Ryan,I hope he does get to play for Canada in March. Excellent story.
