Bouknight, Woods Win Monthly Awards: The Atlantic League has named Somerset P Kip Bouknight and Lancaster INF Mike Woods the August Pitcher of the Month and Player of the Month, respectively.

Bouknight was 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA in seven August appearances, including five starts. Overall this season, he’s 4-1 with a 3.43 ERA in 12 games with the Patriots after being released by the Phillies organization.

Woods hit .385 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 27 August contests. With the Barnstormers this season, Woods is hitting .317 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI and is perhaps the only bright spot on the entire team.

AL Alums In The GBL: Former Patriots staffer and good friend Matt Rothenberg recently took a vacation to Western Canada, and was kind enough to pass along these pictures from a recent Golden Baseball League game between Edmonton and Calgary.

Article about the proposal by Peter Kirk for the ballpark in Richmond. Looks like he’s willing to have an affiliated team in it.

With doubleheaders on the schedule today – any teams that can muster up enough pitching, energy and interest – could go a long way in determining playoff spots – with sweeps

Fish split the DH at Harboryard. Somerset won this in the top of the first….Hertzler had nothing.
2nd game….good timely hitting. And catcher Shea Harris, hitting just .152, delivers a pair of timely sacrifice bunts to help Bridgeport offense. Eddy Ramos comes on in the 7th to make it interesting, as usual. But he got out of a jam, and now, what a GREAT 2 weeks it’ll be, to see who takes the 2nd half title in the Liberty Division.

The Ducks picked a great time to finally win in York this year. They took both games and now have are +2.0 games on Bridgeport and +2.5 games on Southern Maryland. It should be a great couple of weeks.
