Bluefish Adds Weimer: Bridgeport has signed and activated RHP Andrew Weimer. Weimer comes over from Nashua of the Can-Am League, who are apparently dumping players left and right. He was 0-2 with 12 saves and a 4.81 ERA in 23 games for the Pride.

Ducks Add Big Leaguer, AL Vet: The Long Island Ducks have signed RHP Bobby Madritsch and RHP Travis Wade.

Madritsch pitched for the Seattle Mariners in 2004 and 2005, and is one of a handful of Native Americans to have played Major League Baseball.

As for Wade, he was recently released by the Blue Crabs. He’s pitched for the Ducks in the past, as well as the Bears. – MA

I don’t understand why Sparky didn’t go to Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium yesterday. Tommy John went and he still made it back to Long Island for the Bluefish game at 7:05. Somerset played at the same time and the distance and travel time from Yankee Stadium to Citibank Park is the same as the distance from Yankee Stadium to Commerce Bank Ballpark in Somerset.

Good to see Luis Rodriguez back in the Atlantic League with the Bluefish. Luis, known as The Machete for his ability to throw out runners trying to steal second, is the only Atlantic League player to hit for the cycle….twice.
