Drew Helps Shape Indians Of Now: Today is everyone’s favorite day of the year — except if you’re a player or their family — the Major League Baseball trading deadline.

ESPN did a look back at some big trades and among them was the 2002 deal that sent former Bridgeport Bluefish pitcher Tim Drew and Bartolo Colon from the Cleveland Indians to Montreal Expos for Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips and Cliff Lee. Drew is the only one not playing anymore. The rest of the guys have made a pretty good name for themselves.

A.L. Old-Timers’: The New York Yankees are having their popular Old-Timers’ Day on August 2. Some names familiar to Atlantic League fans include Rickey Henderson, Tommy John, Pat Kelly, Graig Nettles (Father of Jeff Nettles) and Tim Raines.- Scott Stanchak

So Sparky is passing up the old-timers again? I thought he said he would go with Tommy John this time?

A few months ago, Tommy told me he and Sparky might go together. It really all depends on their teams schedule, both have said. Patriots are home against Newark with a late start so that’s a bit of a surprise.
