Easler On The Outs: We always talk about players getting picked up by major league organizations, but what about the coaches? One who has done extremely well for himself if Mike Easler, the former skipper of the Nashua Pride.

Easler, who is the current Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach, managed the Pride in 1998 and 1999. From there he went to the St. Louis Cardinals and then to his current position with the Dodgers. Now, there are reports that Don Mattingly will take over for Easler.

Remember, Easler got the Dodgers’ hitting coach position when Mattingly withdrew his name from consideration. Mattingly apparently has the itch to coach again and wants to saddle up next to his former dugout partner Joe Torre.

The Dodgers aren’t hitting very well this season, not Easler’s fault, but when a name like Mattingly, who front office officials wanted in the first place, wants in, they’re going to hire him.
