Blue Crabs Add Two: The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have added OF James Shanks and P Cory Morris.

Shanks is a 29-year-old right-handed hitting outfielder with experience in the Marlins and Royals farm systems. He has prior independent ball experience, playing in the Golden League in 2006 and American Association in 2007.

He’s a career .293 hitter with average to slightly below average power and average to above average speed.

Morris is a 29-year-old righty starter who spent all six years of his professional career in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

He was briefly called up to the big leagues in 2006, but did not appear in a game.

Statistically, Morris isn’t going to blow anyone away. His career WHIP is 1.44, and his career record is 29-45 with a 3.92 ERA.

If he pitched in 2007, it wasn’t in North America.

Aspito Facing Possible Suspension: Jeff Johnson is reporting that York OF Jason Aspito may be facing a league suspension after appearing to make contact with an Atlantic League umpire.

Aspito was apparently called out on a close play on the basepaths.

Seems safe to assume Aspito will be picking the “poor” option in our poll… – Mike Ashmore

Oh look, more transactions that don’t involve the Bluefish. The good news: The bluefish won last night. The bad news, they beat a last place team (York) by a score of 2-1. Our offense should be dominating their pitching. The other bad news: Camden also won.

More bad news: They only won because of shoddy umpiring.

Hey, its a win, I’ll take it any which way. I’m sure York will get a call go their way down the road. It happens.
