Nageotte In, Martin Out In Long Island: The Long Island Ducks have signed P Clint Nageotte, and have placed P Tom Martin on the inactive list to do so.
Nageotte has Major League experience with the Seattle Mariners, and was in Triple-A with the Mets last year.
Martin, a big leaguer with extensive experience of his own, has not pitched since leaving a May 5th game in Somerset with what looked to be an injury to his side.
Murray Returns, Clearly Has Still Got It: With the Bluefish apparently stricken by a case of food poisoning, hitting coach Glenn Murray activated himself and promptly went 3-for-5 with a double and a walk in Bridgeport’s doubleheader against Camden.
He played center field.
Chris Eickhorst, a former catcher, also played in the field, joining fellow pitchers Eric Dubose (who went yard in game 2 after starting game 1), Matt Pike, Rafael Bergstrom and Carlos Castillo in the field.
For Murray, the Atlantic League’s all-time home run king (158), it was his first professional action since retiring in 2006, and the first swings he took in the Atlantic League with another team other than Nashua, whom he played 707 games for between 1999 and 2005. – MA
