Hirsh Becomes Free Agent: Our old friend Matt Hirsh, who you might remember from our popular “Ask The New Guy” segment, has become a free agent after being placed on waivers by the Sussex Skyhawks.
Hirsh, who’s just 23 years old, spent the first half of the year pitching for the York Revolution, and then finished the year with the Skyhawks. While his numbers weren’t what he would have hoped for, he did string together some nice outings, and will certainly be pitching somewhere for the 2008 season, possibly even in the Atlantic League.
Offerman’s Legendary Cheap Shot: Jose Offerman’s infamous bat attack has now been profiled on a television show.
On Fox Sports Net’s “Sport Science” program, Offerman’s bat attack was compared to Marty McSorley’s stick attack on Donald Brashear.
Due to the flexibility in modern composite hockey sticks, it was found that a bat attack could cause exponentially more damage to the victim.
