Stormers Managerial Candidates Revealed: Over at Barnstormin’, Jason Guarente reveals a list of eight candidates that could be managing the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2008.

Hall of Famer? Check.

Well known Major Leaguers? Check.

People with previous Atlantic League ties? Check.

Head on over there and see the list for yourself.

Stadium Name Not Expected To Change: The Courier News reports that TD Bank Financial Group’s acquisition of Commerce Bank will not affect the naming rights deal that the latter financial institution signed with the Patriots in 2000.

The 15 year, $3.55 million deal was announced at the 2000 All-Star Game, so if there were to be any changes, keep in mind that the Patriots are hosting the 2008 midsummer classic.

“Our naming rights agreement is carried through 2015, and we anticipate it to be continued as Commerce Bank Ballpark,” Patriots owner Steve Kalafer told the paper.

TD Bank Financial Group does have a history of taking over the naming rights deals of banks they’ve acquired, however. After acquiring Fleet, Boston’s Fleet Center became TD BankNorth Garden.

I guess Jeff Ball has been blacklisted from the AL? What gives? It’s not like he doesn’t know the league or they don’t know him? Seems like a waste to let a guy with his knowledge AND success get away.

Ball is a very good manager — my guess is these teams just want big names to draw people to the stadiums. Winning sometimes, unfortunately, comes secondary.

I wonder if Lancaster is serious about Wally Backman. He seems to be a good manager, but is a total nutcase. It might be fun for the AL.

It’s the Atlantic League. It’s got nothing to do with baseball. Just get people in the gates to watch Zooperstars and post-fame fireworks.

Win, lose, Who plays–none of that matters.
