Photos From The Past Two Days:
Home Warriors: Newark Bears PR man Ed Clinton has confirmed that the Road Warriors will be the home team in Newark tomorrow, the first time in their five season, 606 game existence that they’ll be batting last.
Wayne Krenchicki, Joe Klein and Jeff Scott were all consulted on the move, and everyone approved it.
Great job by both the Newark Bears and the Atlantic League on this one. The game starts at 5:05 in Newark tomorrow, so it might be wise to stop by and check out some Atlantic League history.
Pulsipher Back To Ducks: I spoke to Ducks manager Dave LaPoint, and he said that the Ducks are bringing in Bill Pulsipher. Pulsipher, according to Ducks radio man Chris King, was in Taiwan and Mexico recently.
“We’ve approved a contract for Bill Pulsipher,” LaPoint said.
“I don’t know how strong he’ll be, but he’ll be able to give us three or four innings the first time out. Hopefully, he looks like the Bill Pulsipher of 2004 and 2005. We need healthy arms, Randy Leek was taken at the worst possible time. That hurt us more than any transaction that’s ever taken place around here.”
LaPoint told me that Pulsipher will pitch Wednesday.
Taylor News: Also, according to LaPoint, a release sent out by Lancaster is expected tonight or tomorrow on the Reggie Taylor situation.
“There is stuff going on, but Lancaster will do a release on it. I can’t say anything until they do,” LaPoint said.
There has been talk that the rights to Raul Marval will be traded for Taylor’s rights, but LaPoint wouldn’t discuss that.
Big Leaguers Coming? Not So Fast: I joked with LaPoint that behind the door to his office, there were ten big leaguers waiting to put on a Ducks uniform. Not so, he says.
“I can tell you for the first time in my life that we’ve got nobody in reserve right now,” he said.
“The tree we usually shake is empty. There’s not a whole lot going on.”
LaPoint does expect Leek to come back, but doesn’t expect Jorge Piedra to come back, and isn’t sure on Derek Wathan.
Osborne Day-To-Day: According to LaPoint, Donovan Osborne is day-to-day with tendinitis.
Urban Renewal: The Somerset Patriots have activated P Jeff Urban from the disabled list and placed P Tony Peralta on it, with what Ryan Dunleavy of The Courier News reported was a deep bone bruise to his leg. – Mike Ashmore
