AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com Suggestion Box: Yesterday we asked you to post your suggestions on what you think the Atlantic League can be doing better.

Today, how about we get some comments about what you’d like to see on here. We’ve experienced pretty steady growth in the amount of people that visit the site on a daily basis — the number of hits a day is quite a bit closer to five digits than it is four — but there’s always room for improvement.

So what do you want to see?

More alumni features? Game recaps? More player interviews? More photos? Less of anything?

Post your thoughts in the comments section.

If you wish to send your ideas privately, I can be reached at mashmore at patriotsbaseball.com

Swindle To Phillies: Newark Bears P R.J. Swindle has been signed by the Philadelphia Phillies organization and has been assigned to Single-A Lakewood.

Jiannetti Ties Record: Newark Bears 3B/OF Joe Jiannetti has extended his Atlantic League hitting streak to 27 games last night, which ties a record set in 2005 by Billy Hall and matched the following season by Victor Rodriguez.

Jiannetti goes for the record today against Lancaster.

Ahearne Back In Bridgeport: Rich Elliott of The Connecticut Post is reporting that the Bridgeport Bluefish have signed P Pat Ahearne.

Had this happened a few days back, this wouldn’t be as interesting as it is…but keep in mind that when P Pat Mahomes called to inquire about coming to the Bluefish, he was told there was no room.

I guess the question is whether there was no room on the roster, or no room in Bridgeport’s wallet…

Regardless, Elliott writes that Ahearne is expected to face his former Ducks teammates on Monday.

Caleb Canned: The Camden Riversharks have released P Caleb Balbuena. Team officials were high on the righty before the start of the season, but he left with an 8.31 ERA in seven appearances.

Beer Me? Not Exactly: The New York Times (your source for Atlantic League news!) did an article on the lack of beer in Newark. Check it out here. – Mike Ashmore

I enjoyed reading the Atlantic League alumni profiles you did as part of your season preview, particularly to find out what some of the guys are doing after their playing careers are over. I wouldn’t mind seeing more content like that, time permitting, of course.

The one thing about the site that I’d like to change is the way that new news gets scattered throughout one post during the day. It’s too easy to miss one new paragraph that gets posted in between a couple that you already read.

Wow! I’ve been to the Den twice this year and I never noticed that there was no beer to be had. Since I’ve been going to a Nutrionist since last June & dropped over 100lbs, my beer comsumption @ the ballpark had dropped proportionally. But I do enjoy the occasional susdy treat!

I hope they get it worked out. I enjoy going to Bears games and I really want the team to be successful on and off the field.

I concur w/ Paul’s above comments.

Keep up the good work!

Jeff

The photos are great….keep them coming, especially since most teams are not providing them online this year…they are way behind. Would like to see some data on the ballparks themselves….fence distances for one.
