Sandel To Edmonton: When the Courier News’ Ryan Dunleavy initially reported that former Somerset Patriots INF George Sandel was working on a contract with the Northern League’s Edmonton Cracker Cats, I still believed that he’d end up in either Lancaster or York.

I’d spoken with Sandel about a month ago, and the energetic infielder said he was in talks with the two Pennsylvania ballclubs, as well as Somerset. It also seemed to appear that he’d be returning to Somerset.

So, I was still surprised to see that Sandel officially signed a deal with Edmonton yesterday.

He never really put up anything remotely close to big numbers while with the Patriots, but was still a very popular player in the clubhouse and a good guy by all accounts.

I’m going to try give him a call again in the next couple days and see what led him to heading to the opposite corner of the continent. – Ashmore

Bluefish Add Three: The Bridgeport Bluefish re-signed left-handed pitcher Mike Porzio and signed righties Garrett Berger and Evan Fahrner. – Scott Stanchak

Okay Brad, I’ll try to pay more attention to the actual games now that Adam talked me into a FULL season!!! Usually I just watch you guys run around the bases & chase balls!
P.S.-Little Shark Girl says, “Hi!”….not!

Mike Porzio.
WHY?
The only thing consistent about his pitching is….if it’s a key game, and he’s starting…might as well add another scratch to the loss column before we even take the field.

Not a key game? No problem.

Key game? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Amy–you and I watched together–the last key game he started. I think you, Steve and your friends were the only people not cursing at him that chilly September night. (Cuz you were rooting for the Barnstormers and they were hitting the hell outta him!!!!)

Seeing as how LaPoint had so much confidence in him that he always left him in LONG after he lost his stuff (if he ever had any to begin with), I was kinda hoping he’d follow DLP to LI.
