Finally, Someone Signs Somewhere: OF Peter Bergeron makes his triumphant return to the Atlantic League, signing a contract with the York Revolution.

Bergeron last played in the league in 2005 for Nashua, hitting .341 with 0 HR and 6 RBI in just 10 games before getting picked up by the Baltimore Orioles.

I interviewed Bergeron after he got picked up, when he was wearing a Bowie Baysox uniform. A lot of good came out of that interview, but all it took was three words to know that this signing was a possibility.

Would you come back to the Atlantic League if you had to?

“Yes, I would.” – Peter Bergeron.

And he did. Call me pyschic.

He Just Wants To Prove He’s Healthy: OF Juan Gonzalez, who played for the Newark Bears last year according to MLB.com (seriously, is it that hard to get what team a guy played for right?), is eyeing a return to the big leagues.

You may consider it newsworthy that the Angels, Tigers and Orioles are all reportedly interested in Gonzalez according to the article.

Jeremy Todd Q&A Set For Wednesday: Don’t forget that Atlantic League All-Star Jeremy Todd will be answering questions from atlanticleaguebaseball.com readers on February 7th at 7PM. Send your questions to mashmore@patriotsbaseball.com

Villacis Becomes Coach: Eduardo Villacis, who pitched for the Surf and Bluefish in the Atlantic League, has become a coach in the Colorado Rockies organization.

The former big leaguer will join the Rockies rookie ball affiliate as their new pitching coach. – Mike Ashmore, mashmore@patriotsbaseball.com

MLB must have changed the article. It now says Juan Gone played for the ducks.

2. AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com - February 4, 2007

Yeah, it definitely said Bears. Bad job by them. Good job by them to fix it.

3. Duckfan - February 5, 2007

Juan gone may have been on the Ducks roster but he didn’t play very much. When he did play, his effort level was near zero. He played as if he didn’t care. I’m surprised any ML team would put any time into him. He’s lost the fire.
Just to be clear, I do not have any grudge against Juan. He was great with the fans and went out of his way to sign autographs. I happen to like the guy. I just would prefer that he wasn’t playing for my team.

I don’t know what Juan Gone you were looking at but the one that played for the Ducks last season did NOT go out of his way to sign autographs (he only appeared at 2 Sunday autograph sessions for the entire time he was with the Ducks) and he was clearly bad with the fans. He rarely signed for the fans before or after the games and he was a cancer on the team.

He is currently playing in the Caribbean World Series.

6. Amy - February 5, 2007

Juan gone was great signing autographs when he came to Lancaster last year. Got him a few times over the course of a 3 game series…signed quite a bit for everyone who wanted him!
