Happy Thanksgiving: For Mike Ashmore and myself, I’d like to wish all the fans, players, coaches, front office staff, field staff and everyone else, as well as their families, a happy Thanksgiving.

With three NFL games on the schedule today, here’s who I’m taking. Anyone else care to throw out their picks?

Miami over Detroit, Dallas over Tampa Bay, Denver over Kansas City – Scott Stanchak

1. Barnstorming - November 23, 2006

The Memphis Redbirds (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) announced Monday that Chris Maloney will take over as manager of the Redbirds in 2007.
This Was where Tommy Herr Was to go…..
so he might be back with the Stormers

That’s a couple days old. Maloney moved up from AA Springfield, leaving that open. As AA is more of a teaching/player development type slot, maybe that is to Tom’s liking, if the Cards offer.

I highly doubt that the Cards would take a risk on Tommy Herr, who is not known for his teaching abilities. Anyone familiar with him as Hempfield’s assistant coach for many years, knows they were relieved when Jordan graduated and Tom no longer helped-out. I do realize that he did an amazing job in the AL but that was with 25 to 35 year olds. Double-A is definitely younger kids.

Yeah..I agree with the previous post about Tom Herr. There was never really anything saying that herr was going to Memphis. for sure…he may have interviewed with them but I highly doubt that. I think Herr wants to start out coaching/managing somewhere in AAA because of his age…and would probably stay with the Barnstormers rather than take a position in affiliated ball below AAA. It was reported in the Lancaster paper after the season that Herr was talking to a few organizations but nothing beyond the talking stage. Personally I think he was making it sound like more than it really was. Even though he has done well for the Barnstormers I don’t really see him “moving on” from the Barnstormers. That’s my opinion as i have also heard the same things from people familiar with the situation at Hempfield!

the bluefish ownership proves how out of touch they are.will someone tell these people they dont need gimmicks and stupid promtions.they need to get the residents of a city of 140,000 people to care about the bluefish.

Well, it sounds like they are trying to head in the right direction-I hope it goes the way the intend it to. Now if we could just find out who all the new managers are going to be-then maybe I could get some sleep at night! (Kidding)
