Ashmore’s Sunday Photo Journal:

Juan Gonzalez

Elvis Pena

Jim Buckley

Sam McConnell

Pena Leaves Game: Long Island Ducks CF Elvis Pena had to be helped off the field after pulling his left oblique. He was face down at home plate for a few seconds, obviously in pain.

In other news from today’s game, NASA is tracking home runs from Edgard Clemente and Juan Gonzalez. They’re believed to be hovering somewhere in the left field area of Commerce Bank Ballpark.

Power Outage: Make sure you check out Ryan Dunleavy’s article in The Courier News about the dwindling amount of home runs in the league. Click here to check it out.

Ray Navarrete, Businessman: Some of you may not know that Ducks INF Ray Navarrete has his own clothing line. I’m wearing one of his Digmi shirts right now, and if that doesn’t make it cool, I don’t know what does. For more information, click here. – Mike Ashmore

Juan Gone is so awesome his helmet is a different color, and blank.

I obviously have no way of proving it, but that shot was taken right before he hit his home run to left…I think it was a first pitch shot, so I only had time to grab that shot. If anyone’s ridiculously familiar with Somerset’s stadium, his bomb hit near the top off the Princeton sign in left field.

As for Clemente’s, it carried well over the top of both walls, but was closer to the left field pole.

Both were missiles, though.

To address the batting helmet question, looking through my shots from the night, it appears the Ducks use both dark green and black-ish batting helmets.

Gonzo’s was the only one that was sans logo from what I saw, though.

Mike, what kinda of camera do you use?

any word on how long Pena may be out? With Haverbusch out and who knows with Gonzalez the Ducks have a serious depth issue

Kodak DX6490. It’s my personal camera, it’s decent…but it’s not a giant camera with a giant lens that you see the big boys use…

What happened to August 7th’s news about the two new bluefish? I saw but now cannot relocate it.

Is there going to be a team in Maryland for the 2007 season? And with there being a new team in York next season, will the A.l.still use the Road Warriors to even out the number of teams at 10.Or,will 1 or more teams be leaving the league like Nashua did.

11. Weston - August 8, 2006

The York team is going to play in 2007. The Southern Maryland team may not play until 2008. Atlantic City may leave to the Can-Am league if they don’t get more fans to come to there games. And the Road Warriors will only play to even out the teams so who knows.

I was told by one league official that AC will be returning next season…

13. Weston - August 8, 2006

Ok then AC will be returning next year. I heard that maybe after the 10 stadium lease was up which would be after next year that they may move to another league, but that was a while ago that I heard that.
