Clemente Returns: According to Ryan Dunleavy of The Courier News, the Somerset Patriots have brought back OF Edgard Clemente.

Eddy was recently released by Sioux Falls of the American Association, a move I did notice, but didn’t even report because I’d have been surprised if he was coming back to the AL. Color me surprised. While Clemente was certainly productive during his stint in Somerset, he was also injured quite a bit, and had trouble staying in the lineup. If I remember correctly, he went home with a few weeks left in the 2004 season due to back trouble.

He was also the subject of one of my favorite Ten Questions of all time, which can be read here.

Clemente is not at the ballpark yet as of 5:15 PM, and is not in the lineup.

C Jeremy Booth was placed on the DL today with an elbow injury, giving Somerset two active and two inactive catchers.

Ducks Sign Ex-Sox Pitcher: P Cory Bailey, who spent eight years in the big leagues, has signed with the Long Island Ducks. Bailey played for Boston in 1993 and 1994, as well as with the Cardinals, Giants and Royals. P Mike Ziegler was deactivated.

Corrado Debuts: Former Surf P Rob Corrado is making his debut with the Road Warriors tonight. According to manager Jeff Scott, he’s not expected to go past five innings.

Features: In somewhat of an upset, people actually appear to care what I’ve written about this week. I’ve been receiving a lot of positive feedback from my cover story in the Democrat this week on Bobby Malkmus, as well as my feature on Patriots P Keith Ramsey.

I spoke to Bobby yesterday on the phone, and he said he’s already been asked about who wrote the piece, as a lot of people seem to have enjoyed it. If you haven’t checked them out yet, pick up a copy of the paper or head on over to MikeAshmore.com.

Your comments and feedback are always appreciated.

As for the Road Warriors feature I’ve been teasing, I’ll be able to reveal more about what’s going on with that fairly shortly. A lot needs to go right for it to work out, but if all goes as planned, it’ll be a must read. – Mike Ashmore

What do you mean Mike Ziegler was deactivated? Was he released, placed on the Disabled List, or placed on the Inactive List?

Inactive list.
