Sierra Back To A.L.? According to a source, the Atlantic League might see the return of Ruben Sierra. Sierra, who batted only .179 in 14 games with the Minnesota Twins this season, could be joining the Somerset Patriots within 10 days.

Sierra has Atlantic League experience with the Atlantic City Surf.

I’m working on confirming any details of this.

Ashmore Note: Sierra also agreed to terms with the Ducks in 2000 before leaving for Mexico, a move that ultimately opened the door for Justin Davies run in Central Islip. As with any big name player, the Ducks are not to be considered out of the running in this.

Surf Sign Weber: The Atlantic City Surf have signed former big-leaguer Ben Weber, who has big league time with the Anaheim Angels, with whom he won a World Series with. He also has played with the Giants and Reds. – Scott Stanchak

DeLeon Resurfaces: As noted in a Connecticut Post article, Atlantic League veteran C Sandy DeLeon recently signed with the New Haven County Cutters of the Can-Am League. – Mike Ashmore

Got to see some former Atl. Leaguer’s in Reading Sat. & Sun. when the Phil’s played the Connecticut Defenders. One of Bridgeport’s favorite sons-Gary Burnham-doing a mighty fine job with his new team, also former Rivershark-the outstanding Pedro Swann with his new teammates in Reading and my personal favorite- formerly of Camden & most recently Lancaster, Quincy Foster looking very good with his new New England team. Chalk up another great road trip for the “Fab 5” plus 1 (the Shark’s most fanatic fans!) for my husband’s 40th B-day who was looking mighty fine himself throwing out the first pitch on Sat. night! Happy Birthday, Ron! Thanks for the great tix & the laughs Quincy-hope to see you soon!
