Stocker Approaching Record: Ducks OF Mel Stocker got a hit in his 23rd consecutive game tonight, four short of tying the record set by Billy Hall last year. Stocker, one of my breakout stars for 2006, was set to start the season with the Road Warriors before Justin Davies abruptly retired.

Pizarro Signs With Ducks: The Long Island Ducks have signed Road Warriors P Melvin Pizarro to replace Andrew Lorraine, who was signed by the White Sox yesterday. Pizarro made his Ducks debut tonight, and was relieved by Rob Cafiero – who didn’t allow a hit in two innings of work.

Villacis Signs: According to Rich Elliott of The Connecticut Post, the Bridgeport Bluefish have signed P Eduardo Villacis to a contract. Elliott also writes that more moves are coming. In addition, he reports that P Will Cunnane will not be returning to the team after deciding to undergo surgery.

Gonzalez Returns: Jason Guarente of The Lancaster New Era writes that INF Danny Gonzalez has returned to the Barnstormers after being released by the Cubs. – Mike Ashmore

Pizarro is only on loan from the Warriors. His contract was assigned from the Road Warriors, not purchased. He made his first appearance on Friday night, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs in 1 inning of work. He faired better on Saturday giving up only 2 hits and 1 run in 2 innings of work.
