Maxwell Making News: The Bears released INF Keith Maxwell, and he was quickly picked up. But not by an Atlantic League team. The Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League scooped him up.

Maxwell was hitting .153 with 1 HR and 4 RBI at the time of his release. Somewhat surprisingly, Dario Delgado has been nearly as bad, hitting just .170 with 1 HR and 11 RBI on the season.

Barnstormers Moves: Word out of Lancaster is that the team has released P Steve Hassett and signed P Joe Dooley. I believe this was reported in one of the Lancaster papers as well, so this appears to be true.

Gonzalez To DH: Also, it looks like Juan Gonzalez will be the DH for all three games the Ducks play in Lancaster. If this is a short-term move, that’s fine, but it’s not smart for him to do this in the long run. Two-time AL MVP or not, there’s a reason none of the 30 teams signed him, and he’s got to show that he’s healthy enough to play the field as well. I have no doubt that he can still smack the crap out of the ball on a regular basis, but he needs to show what he can do in the field as well to have a legitimate chance to get out of here. – Mike Ashmore

Today’s CT Post reports that Donovan Osbourne was signed by the Royals organization.
I knew he was too good to stay with us. Our team is getting decimated….they did sign a guy to replace him named Matt Beech. Read all about it on http://www.connpost.com
You’d think after 9 years I’d be used to this now but I’m not. It gets harder and harder to care when you know anyone with any talent is going to leave.

Maybe this is a contributing factor to the dwindling attendance? Maybe people are tired of getting sucked in, start to care, only to find the team changes almost daily? Just a thought. What makes it a good league for the players, it’s openness, perhaps is what makes it bad for the fans.

Any other ideas, thoughts on this subject?

don’t be surprised to see Dario’s stats improve significantly this weekend. With the rainout make up game set for Sat, they now have 4 games to play in AC (his former team). I’d expect to see both Dario and Al Benjamin blast over left field repeatedly, kind of as in “in your face” response to their departures.

AC really strained themselves on Sun in the 2nd game of the doubleheader – using the “B” team to start, and eventually subbing in the regulars to the stage where @ the end they had ZERO position players left on the bench. Add this to the ongoing disatifaction by the pitchers and how they are used, and I suggest something simple. Carry LESS pitchers, and more position players. Start by weeding out the loudest complainers, even if they hold “double duty” roles with the team……..

Just testing my new blog id…
Oh, Burnham watch: he went 4-5 Saturday, 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Unfortunately, he also went 0-3 on Sunday….he’s batting .302 as of Sunday’s stats. R-Phils were off Monday.

They open a homestand tonight, so hoping he’ll have a chance to bring those numbers up. GO GARY! We’re rooting for ya here in Bridgeport!

i got a question for you — i’m sure you know Bob from section 17, he wasn’t there last week when i went.. have you seen him around lately?? i worry about that guy.. we have a lot of fun over there and i’ve prob gotten in like 4 arguments in the last couple years because of people making fun at him.

anyways, i’ll be there tonight since i dont have to work at the cutters game (there on the road) — so lets go fish.
