There’s no word on whether Billy Sylvester and Jerry Seinfeld have been seen in the same place at the same time…

Patriots Down To Nine Pitchers: It was bound to happen, but the Somerset Patriots have finally lost P Billy Sylvester to the Washington Nationals organization. Sylvester will report to Triple-A New Orleans, leaving the team with just nine pitchers.

Raining on Sunday, Pitching on Monday: Ryan Dunleavy of The Courier News reports that the team is close to an agreement with 28-year-old lefty P Jeff Urban. Country music fans will surely get the reference in the headline.

Anyway, Urban spent one day in the big leagues in 2003, but didn’t get to appear in a game before getting sent down.

The 41st overall pick in the 1998 draft by San Francisco never got back, and after not pitching in 2005, finds himself in the Atlantic League in 2006, trying to get back.

Dunleavy writes that Urban could be in uniform by Monday.

Duck Leaves Pond: Two separate sources have reported that P Ryan Jensen has left the team to sign with the Texas Rangers. He will report to Double-A, surprising for a pitcher who was in the big leagues just year. The Ducks have apparently won the bidding war for P Greg Modica, assuming that’s what happened. Modica, who the Patriots sure could use right about now, was pitching surprisingly well for the Road Warriors before getting the Duck call. Modica is not currently listed on the Ducks roster, however.

UPDATE – Modica will be making his regularly scheduled start tonight and is not a member of the Ducks. No word on who the Ducks will pick up to replace Jensen. – Mike Ashmore

Jensen pitched for the Royals and Omaha last year…I’d say both of those teams are AAA
