Sharks Lose One, Sign One: The Camden Riversharks lost pitcher Travis Phelps to the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Taking his place on the roster will be infielder Robert Aquilinos. – Scott Stanchak.

AL Alum Sighting: I was in Trenton last night to interview Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer and talk to a few of the guys on the Red Sox 40-man roster now playing for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs (Edgar Martinez, Brandon Moss, David Murphy). After running around getting all that done, I return to the press box to see a pretty big guy with a huge ring on his finger talking on his phone about some players.

It was none other than former Somerset Patriots OF Glen Barker, who spent three games with the team in 2003 before getting picked up by the Orioles organization. Before we spent about 10 minutes talking about how he had back-to-back triples in Somerset after having just one triple in his big league career, looking at his stats and checking over some AL rosters, he said that he wishes he would have stayed with Somerset because he’d probably still be playing. So what’s he doing now?

The huge ring on his finger was a 2005 NLCS ring, as Barker is now a scout for the Houston Astros. It was nice to finally meet him, since all three of his games for Somerset were on the road, and he was picked up before ever setting foot in Commerce Bank Ballpark. – Mike Ashmore
