Journell Entry: According to Rich Elliott of The Connecticut Post, the Bridgeport Bluefish have signed former MLB pitcher Jimmy Journell to a contract.

Journell appeared in 12 big league games for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2003 and 2005, going 0-1 with an ERA of 7.42

He’s a former fourth round pick of the Cardinals – he was named their top prospect by Baseball America in 2001 – and was in camp with the Cincinnati Reds this spring before getting released.

He had Tommy John surgery in 1999 and shoulder surgery in 2004.

He also has a pretty cool signature, I recommend you ask him for one. – Mike Ashmore
