Bears Lose Robertson: Pitcher Jeriome Robertson was sold to the New York Mets today and is scheduled to start for Triple-A Norfolk tonight.

This season, Robertson pitched 12 scoreless innings, striking out 15, in two starts, while receiving no decisions in both.

The club signed pitcher Fernando Rijo, who has Triple-A experience with the Baltimore Orioles, and also cut Marc Sauer. – Scott Stanchak.

Martinez Return Unlikely: After talking to a few people, it appears that the odds of Road Warriors INF Felix Martinez returning to the Patriots are about as good as me giving birth to a giant, plastic foot. Other jokes thrown around for that one also included the odds being as good as The Pope turning to scientology or me getting a date with Lauren Graham, but that one somehow made the cut.

Tucker Update: While I was able to confirm that OF Michael Tucker has had conversations with league officials, his signing – while still possible – does not appear to be imminent.

Breaking News, Road Warriors Still Bad, film at 11: All this off-season I heard about how much better the Road Warriors were going to be this year and how it was the best traveling team the league had ever seen and so on. Now, I realize I’m saying this after they took the Patriots to ten innings, but that is one interesting bunch of guys. One of their outfielders took some of the worst lines to fly balls I’ve seen in a long time, and another one of them looks banged up, as he had a tough time getting around out there. It felt like they were almost trying to throw the ball away on several occasions.

Greg Modica was a bright spot for the team today, looking pretty solid until former teammate Ryan Radmanovich connected for a big fly that hit his picture on the scoreboard. For as inept as the Road Warriors were at times, Somerset sure didn’t look much better at times. Only a handful of base hits and four errors. There are a lot of players getting off to slow starts on this year’s team, and while releasing Adam Larson and returning Ryan McDermond hardly constitutes a house cleaning, I highly doubt the same will be said if some statistics don’t change in the next few weeks. – Mike Ashmore

in response to the “house cleaning” do you think that the patriots will be releasing some of their IF and OF players? Also, what are the chances that they will sign Michael Tucker?
