Cunnane First One Out: According to a source, Bridgeport Bluefish P Will Cunnane will be the first player picked up this season.

Patriots Interested In Outfielder: Recently released OF Michael Tucker has reportedly been discussed by Patriots officials as a possible option in the outfield.

Ducks Cut Blanton: The Long Island Ducks have cut P Jason Blanton. Blanton who has also pitched with the Nashua Pride in the AL, was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA in two appearances with Long Island.

Lima Loses in Mets Debut: 2003 Newark Bears alum Jose Lima was disappointing in his New York Mets debut, picking up the loss in 13-3 defeat to the Atlanta Braves today. Lima gave up five earned runs on seven hits, including a home run to brian Jordan.

However, with Victor Zambrano being lost for the season and John Maine being placed on the DL, Lima may get another chance to stick in the Mets rotation. His next start is scheduled for Saturday in Milwaukee.

All-Time Red Sox Interview Team: Jason Shiell was the 25th Boston Red Sox player I’d interviewed, so I decided I’d try to put together an all-time interview team now that I had the players to do so. It wasn’t as easy as I thought.

I didn’t realize that 16 of those 25 players were pitchers, so I’d have a lot of pitching depth and virtually no bench. But I think my Opening Day lineup would look a little something like this…

CF: Rickey Henderson
2B: James Lofton
1B: Michael Coleman
DH: Dante Bichette
RF: Greg Blosser
3B: Butch Hobson
LF: Darren Bragg
SS: Tony Rodriguez
C: Steve Lomasney

SP: Rick Wise

Breaking down the pitchers is where it gets a little tricky. I’d round out the rest of my starting rotation with Robert Person, Casey Fossum, Bruce Chen and Bill Pulsipher.

Sparky Lyle has got to be the closer. Todd Erdos, Hector Almonte, Craig Hansen and Wayne Gomes would all be suitable set-up guys. Brian Looney, Paxton Crawford, Carlos Castillo, Jason Shiell, Bobby Jones and Willie Banks would be my long relief guys or spot starters. – Mike Ashmore

The Surf’s Tod Leathers seems a more likely choice doesn’t he? 3 hr in 5 games, leading RBI’s, 2nd in average….gotta be one of the best if not the best offensive player in the league….and with Delgado slumping in Newark it’s no wonder they traded…

dosent the patriots already have enough outfielders? Why would they be looking for more?

4. Anonymous - May 9, 2006

More like a few real outfielders and a few guys masquerading as outfielders. Tucker would be a welcome addition to the team, I hope they sign him.

6. Jason - May 10, 2006

I think Lockwood and Radmanovich are the two main guys.
