Offerman Not Coming: According to Rich Elliott of The Connecticut Post, former Bluefish INF Jose Offerman won’t be with the club after all after signing a deal with the New York Mets, the team he finished last season with.

Sparks To Can-Am: Former Nashua Pride P Jeff Sparks has signed with Worcester of the Can-Am League.

Alumni: I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do yet as far as my bi-monthly Affiliation Update goes yet. However, I did speak to former Long Island Ducks catcher John Castellano about his stint in the league in 2000. I’ll have a note on that later. I’m at the Trenton Thunder vs. Reading Phillies game, and former Nashua Pride OF Peter Bergeron is also on the Phillies. Indy league vet Jim Rushford, who made it to the bigs in 2002 with Milwaukee, also plays for Reading and said he’d signed with another independent league before ultimately deciding to re-join the Phillies organization this spring. – Mike Ashmore
