Offerman In Talks To Return: According to The Connecticut Post’s Rich Elliott, the Bluefish are in talks with INF Jose Offerman about a possible return to the team. They hope to have him before the season kicks off on April 28th.

Also, according to Elliott, the team has released AL vet P Tim Cain. Cain was scheduled to fill the closer role this year, but Eddy Ramos will instead take that role. When Ramos makes his yearly trip overseas, we’ll see how well that pans out. Although the Bluefish say they made the move to give Cain a chance to find work elsewhere, I’d be surprised to see another team pick him up. Maybe the Road Warriors, but we’ll see.

Finally, Elliott writes that the team is talking with former big league outfielder Barry Wesson. No word on if they sign a player named Smith just to complete the stupid firearms joke, but Wesson played with the Astros in 2002 and Angels in 2003 and hit his first and only big league longball off of John Thomson in his last big league game on September 28, 2003.

H-Rod Returns to Ducks: The Ducks announced today that they’ve re-signed OF Henry Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a former big league All-Star and is probably best known for his time with the Montreal Expos.

Lancaster Cuts Three: The Lancaster Intelligencer Journal reports that the team has cut pitchers Enemencio Pacheco, Joe Dooley and Mike Ziegler.

They’re keeping 23 players, three of them catchers. I don’t get it either.

Anyway, the team will have 11 pitchers, including former Patriots Cameron Smith and Scott Sobkowiak. Closer Scott Patterson, who you’d better believe will be the subject of a Ten Questions this year, will also be on the ballclub.

Road Warriors Roster Taking Shape: Thanks to The Courier News’ Ryan Dunleavy, we now know two of the 25 names that you’ll see take the field for the Road Warriors on opening day.

Dunleavy reports that, as expected, the Somerset Patriots have returned infielder Felix Martinez to the club. With Kevin Nicholson expected to return to the team before the start of the season, this move makes perfect sense. However, if George Sandel should underperform at second base, don’t be surprised to see him return at that position.

Dunleavy also writes that former Patriots catcher Chris Eickhorst is competing for a roster spot as a pitcher with the club. You might remember Eickhorst was a pitcher for a little while last year with Newark.

When it comes to getting information about the Road Warriors, the league does a pretty substandard job. Give them their own website. Let me see who’s on their roster. These guys want to get out of here just as much as the guys on the other seven teams, give them every advantage those players have.
