I would like to thank everyone for their support of AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com over the past three years. You’ve helped make it the number-one source for league news and we promise to keep bringing you exclusive, heard-it-hear-first information throughout the season.

I want to urge you to read Mike Ashmore’s articles that he’s writing for the Hunterdon Democrat. I’ve stepped back and am only going to write a few pieces each month for the paper and Mike will be the perfect replacement, a person who’s paid his dues for the past two years and done a wonderful job in the process. His first article was in the paper yesterday and will be on newsstands through next Wednesday. I urge you to pick it up.

If you can’t pick that up then check out his web site and you can read it there: MikeAshmore.com

In terms of what I’m doing now: I’ve extreamly busy hosting shows and anchoring the news on the ISNN network, as well as now being a sports reporter for Time Warner TV in Staten Island. There’s also a bunch more television and writing projects I have going, but that’s a good thing.

You can see all the info on my web site: ScottStanchak.com

So keep the feedback coming and feel free to contact Mike (mashmore@patriotsbaseball.com) or myself (sstanchak@atlanticleaguebaseball.com) anytime.

My best,
Scott Stanchak

Surf News: The Atlantic City Surf, according to a source, have re-signed Lincoln Mikkelson and Ben Grezlovski. The club is still looking for a shortstop after already having an abundance of first baseman and other infield positions filled.

Patriots Sign Catcher, Trade For One: The Somerset Patriots are bringing back former big-leaguer Fernando Lunar to be their backstop this year, with Travis Anderson, who was aquired from the Camden Riversharks for pitcher Nick Stocks, being his backup. Ashmore alluded to this trade early in the week.

Lunar is a great backstop to have and Anderson is a solid backup, who can play other positions as well. Why does it seem like Somerset is trying too hard to get local guys, with Anderson being from Flemington and Chris Zallie working at Jack Cust Baseball Academy? – Scott Stanchak.

Ashmore’s Take: First of all, thanks to Scott for his kind words. It’s been great to see him moving up in the entertainment business, he certainly deserves it. And hey, I’ve been paying my dues for three years, but who’s counting? Haha, anyway, the Patriots are likely going to be the deepest team in the league at catcher. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anderson see some time as a DH, as I don’t think he’s a backup player in this league. Patriots management were really impressed by the way Lunar affected the pitching staff last season, and that’s why he was brought back, so with that said he’s a lock to spent the majority of his time behind the plate.

And the Anderson for Stocks trade was the one I’d heard about a week ago, I just really couldn’t do anything more with it at that time. – Mike Ashmore
