New Patriots Information: I posted the new article yesterday for this week’s Hunterdon Democrat. It features information on who should be returning to Somerset this season. Read Now

Radmanovich Re-Signed: The Somerset Patriots officially announced the re-signing of OF Ryan Radmanovich today. This is something we reported on the web site a few days ago and in Scott’s most recent article that it would most likely happen. This will be Radmanovich’s fourth season with the team. Rad has experience with the Seattle Mariners and has represented his country most recently in the 2004 Olympics and 2006 World Baseball Classic.

Bears Acquire Two: The Newark Bears acquired INF Lipso Nava from Camden for a player to be named later (ha!) and also signed former Arizona Diamondback OF Doug Devore. – Mike Ashmore

Bluefish Sign Three: The easiest way to tell you about the three is from the press release:

OF Bobby Darula, a native of Greenwich, CT joins the club having spent the majority of the past 4 seasons at the AAA level. Having played professionally for ten seasons, Darula owns a career .315 batting average. Last season, as a member of the Ottawa Lynx (AAA-Baltimore) he posted a .311 with 2 HR and 40 RBI in 109 games.

Danbury native Sean Fesh, rejoins the Bluefish having spent the 2001 season with the ‘fish. The lefthander begins his 16th season of professional baseball having spent parts of 7 seasons at the AAA level. Last season as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies organization he split time between Scranton-Wilkes Barre and Reading. While at Reading he posted a 1.48 ERA in 20 appearances.

RHP Scotty Layfield joins the Bluefish having spent the past two seasons recovering from injury. The former 20th round pick of the Cardinals has pitched at the AAA level with Memphis in 2003. He recorded three consecutive seasons with double digit saves in 00-02 including 31 with Potomac in ’01. Layfield was the closer on the New Haven Ravens staff in ’02 under the tutelage of current Bluefish manager Dave Lapoint.” – Scott Stanchak.
