Barnstormer Moves: The club signed catcher Lance Burkhart, infielder Steve Van Note, and right-hander Denny Harriger, who spent the last two seasons with the Nashua Pride.

The club also saw Danny Gonzalez sign with the Chicago Cubs, Enny Pacheco with the Kansas City Royals and Troy Mattes with the Houston Astros. – Scott Stanchak.

Ashmore’s Take: I’m a little surprised they got Harriger to sign. If he isn’t making the league maximum of $3,000 a month, I bet he’s damn close. Teams have been keeping their lips sealed for a while, but you’ve gotta wonder how long it’ll be before teams start getting bitter about not even having the opportunity to sign a guy like Harriger.

You will, of course, remember that Harriger was one of the players Lancaster “selected” in the “dispersal draft” that was held several weeks ago.

If Harriger ends up pitching like junk, nobody will care…but if he pitches like he did in 2005, this will be a bigger deal than you might think, mark my words. – Mike Ashmore
