Twins sign Sierra: The Twins are quickly becoming an Atlantic Leaguer’s best friend. Having already signed the likes of Carlos Pulido and Jose Offerman in the past, they’ve signed a third Atlantic League alum.

Ruben Sierra, the Atlantic League’s first star player and former member of the Atlantic City Surf, signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins today. Sierra hit .229 with 4 HR and 29 RBI in 170 at-bats with the Yankees last season.

Sierra, who turned 40 last October, is a career .268 hitter and four time All-Star. He finished second in the 1989 AL MVP voting to Robin Yount. – Mike Ashmore
