Patriots Take Game 3 in Dramatic Fashion: Think back to the first half of the 2005 season. It was the Surf facing the Patriots in Bridgewater…the first half championship is on the line and Ryan Radmanovich is at the plate. He walks. They win. The Patriots are in the playoffs.

Fast forward to last night. The score is tied at one. Surf manager Jeff Ball brings in Fernando De La Cruz (a.k.a Fernando Desque) in to face Radmanovich with two runners on and the score tied at one.

One Pitch. One Swing. One hell of a blast. Radmanovich took De La Cruz’ offering about 400 feet away, with only the scoreboard getting in the way of a ball that was destined to carry over the railroad tracks. A Kevin Nicholson solo shot later and the dagger had been firmly planted in the chances of the Surf.

The intensity was absolutely amazing, and the game really could have gone either way up until that point. If you care at all about baseball, you’ll want to be in the house tonight as the Patriots host games one and two of the Championship Series tonight and tomorrow.

Pride Walk-Off With Game 3 Win: So, I hear Brian Becker is good. Becker all but solidified his case for MVP with his walk-off home run to beat the Ducks last night. This guy has absolutely carried the Pride to the playoffs and doesn’t belong in the Atlantic League…but what a menace he’s been while he’s been here. His walk-off home run off of Ducks starter Lance Davis gave the Pride the 4-3 win and the series win. Pete Hartmann didn’t factor into the decision, but it was Game 1 starter Denny Harriger who picked up the win, tossing a scoreless ninth. I took a lot of heat for picking him as my Pitcher of the Year, but gutsy performances like that sure don’t hurt.

So, congratulations to the Nashua Pride for advancing to the Championship Series and beating the Long Island Ducks. It seems like Nashua had absolutely everything (and I mean everything) against them in their fight to get this far, so for them getting this far, all I can really say is…good for them.

Scott Patterson (The Pitcher) Wins Award: Congratulations to site favorite Scott Patterson for becoming the first Barnstormer in team history to win a monthly league award. Patterson was named the September Pitcher of the Month after going 1-0 with 6 saves and a 1.32 ERA. In Scott Patterson (The Actor) news, I recently bought Gilmore Girls Season 4 on DVD and can’t wait to buy Season 5 on my birthday, December 13th.

Gary Burnham and Henry Rodriguez were named co-players of the month.

Or did he win?: A league release states that Brett Laxton won the award. Interesting press release from Lancaster then. It remains on the front page of their official website as well. – Mike Ashmore
