Cafiero to make pitching debut today: His teammates affectionately call him “The Punisher.” But could they possibly call him “staff ace” after Sunday’s game in Nashua? Ducks infielder Rob Cafiero will be making his pitching debut in the final game of the season against Nashua. I took this right from the press release: The Pride will send knuckleballing right-handed Joe Gannon (1-0, 7.94) to the mound. The Long Island starter will be Rob Cafiero, normally a first baseman, who will try his hand on the mound. He’s reportedly been working on a knuckleball.

If ever there was a reason to head up to Nashua to check out a game, this would have to be it. – Mike Ashmore
