Extra Umpire: In Lancaster last night, there was four umpires on the field when the Atlantic League usually only uses three per game. J Puntiel at home, Ben Coslet at 1st, Mark Facto at 2nd and Ed Childress at 3rd. No clue why they’d do this since there are crews assigned for each series. – Scott Stanchak.

Ducks sign big leaguer, also: the sky is blue: Wow, I could hardly hide my surprise there. Anyway, the Ducks have signed ex-MLB OF Manny Martinez. The 34 year-old Martinez played parts of three seasons from 1996-1999 with the Mariners, Phillies, Pirates and Expos. His 7 triples in 1999 ranked him 9th in the NL.

Playoff Rosters to be set today: Today is the deadline for teams to submit their playoff rosters. So, for guys coming back from affiliated ball, this is their last day to do it and still remain eligible for playoff play. It’s my understanding that any player who hasn’t played for the team this season and joins the team after today would be ineligible to play in the playoffs should his team make it. Patriots fans will remember Robinson Cancel’s return last year coming in after the deadline.

Updates Sketchy: Both Scott and myself will be down in Baltimore to cover an Orioles game and will likely be unavailable to post updates. Things should return to normal by Saturday. For all the great interviews we’re bound to get, make sure you check out WDVR-FM’s “The Cheap Seats with Scott Stanchak” every Tuesday. – Mike Ashmore
