Hall sets AL record: Congratulations to the Somerset Patriots’ Billy Hall, who set a new Atlantic League record by extending his hitting streak to 26 games. The previous record was held by former Somerset Patriot Will Pennyfeather, who had a 25 game streak in 1998 with the Surf.

Nettles ties team record: With his 25th home run of the season, Jeff Nettles has tied the Somerset Patriots single-season home run record set last year by league MVP Victor Rodriguez.

Navarro Back: Jaime, Jason or Scott? It’s Jason Navarro, and he’s signed with the Nashua Pride. They’re gradually improving their team to the point where I can say they might actually be a force to be reckoned with again.

Bears sign Goldwater: The Newark Bears have agreed to terms with former Surf P Kyle Goldwater. They have released P Nick Maness.

Surf bring in Wilkerson: The Atlantic City Surf have signed former 3rd round draft pick P Steve Wilkerson. Wilkerson has pitched exclusively in independent ball.

7 Days: Word on the street is that’s how long teams have from today to bring in players who haven’t played in the league before. After that, they can bring in anyone they want, but they would not be eligible for the playoffs. Also, according to a source, teams are only allowed to bring in 3 “new” players until the 16th. I do not know, however, when that time period started. Therefore, are the Ducks only allowed one additional player due to their two recent signings? Will I ever find out? Probably not.

Coming back?: The Patriots are reportedly in talks with at least two of their pitchers regarding a return to the team after stints in affiliated baseball. – Mike Ashmore
