Somer-Signing: The Somerset Patriots today officially added catcher Fernando Lunar and pitcher Gene Stechschulte to their roster. The team released catcher Chris Eickhorst to make room for Lunar, who will be the Patriots starting backstop.

Player of the Month: Long Island Ducks pitcher Lance Davis and Camden Riversharks outfielder Dwight Maness were named the league’s pitcher and player of the month. – Scott Stanchak.

AL Scoreboard: The Nashua Pride have beat the Somerset Patriots, 7-3. Denny Harriger is the first to 11 wins in the Atlantic League. Glenn Murray reached base in all four plate appearances. Ryan Radmanovich had two home runs for Somerset, essentially providing their offense.

The Newark Bears beat the Long Island Ducks, 4-3, on a Tom McGee walk-off fielder’s choice. After Norm Hutchins tied the game at three with an RBI double, he moved to third on a single and scored the winning run. Henry Rodriguez had three hits for Long Island, extending his hitting streak to 14 games. Todd Erdos picked up a rare loss in relief of Justin Lamber, who again pitched well.

Lancaster beat Atlantic City, 12-5, and extended their winning streak to seven games. Enemencio Pacheco (7-2) got the win for Lancaster, his fifth straight. Jeremy Todd did what Jeremy Todd does, and that’s go 4-for-5 at the plate.

Camden beat Bridgeport, 3-1. Jamie Steward took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Hector Kuilan broke it up with a single. Only Rod Henderson and Joe Gannon have fired no-hitters in the eight year history of the Atlantic League. Brad Strauss was 2-for-3 with a home run for the Riversharks. – Mike Ashmore
