AL Scoreboard: AC Surf 9 at Somerset Patriots 6

Latham Unhappy with Ducks: Rich Elliott of The Connecticut Post, who’s been doing an excellent job keeping Bluefish fans abreast of the various trials and tribulations of that team, reports that Chris Latham was to be traded for the rights to P Mike Porzio, but that Porzio wanted to stay in Bridgeport. Had Latham not been traded, he would have been released.

Also, Latham was displeased with the way he was treated by Long Island. He told the paper, “The upper management of the Long Island Ducks did not treat me like a professional,” Latham said. “It’s been a circus. I think they really didn’t go about this in a professional way. I’m a man with some big league experience. This is my 14th season and I feel like I got treated like a kid that’s never even been out of A-ball.”

Patriots release Evans: The Somerset Patriots have released P Kyle Evans, leaving them with 23 players. Team officials are looking to add at least one pitcher to the roster ASAP.

Surf make two moves: The team has released C Adam Capodieci and signed P Eduardo Villacis. Villacis last pitched with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. Villacis pitched in one game for the 2004 Kansas City Royals. – Mike Ashmore
