Bears Moves: They signed former Patriot C Tom McGee and ex-MLB P Carlos Castillo. McGee was on the 2003 Patriots championship team, and brings excellent defense and an easygoing personality to Newark. He was the subject of my first ever Ten Questions feature, I’ve done 115 since.

Castillo has pitched in 111 big league games, 109 of them for the Chicago White Sox. The last two? For his hometown Boston Red Sox in 2001.

They placed C Abraham Ayala on the DL, and released OF Jose Cruz and P Luis Alvarado.

Today’s Scoreboard: The Bears and Barnstormers split their doubleheader, with the Bears winning Game 1, 6-2, and losing Game 2, 12-4. Bridgeport beat the Surf, 9-6. Jamie Gann hit 2 HR. Nashua shut out Long Island, 6-0.

And the Patriots beat the Riversharks, 8-2, in Camden. Todd Moser made the spot start for Somerset, who lost 2 of 3 from the Riversharks.

Yesterday’s Scoreboard: Atlantic City beat Bridgeport, 3-1. Nashua beat Long Island, 9-2. Travis Anderson hit two home runs to lead Camden past Somerset, 7-3. Anderson has now reached safely in 16 straight games. Lancaster and Newark were postponed and will play two today.

The Barnstormers, after much discussion amongst their fans, have reduced food prices. Read more about it here.

The Patriots did, in fact, sign P Nick Stocks. I’d have to think they moved a player in order to stay under the league limit of 25. – Mike Ashmore
