Signings: The Newark Bears signed right-hander Reggie Harris to replace Greg Bauer. The 36 year-old Harris, originally a first round selection of the Boston Red Sox in the 1987 draft, has pitched in the major leagues with the Red Sox, Oakland A’s, Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers. He also has pitched in 416 career minor league games, earning 98 saves along the way. Harris has spent parts of the past two seasons with Newark.

The Patriots are bringing in OF Mike O’Keefe and P Carl Sadler. O’Keefe spent time with Double-A Portland last season, and Sadler has big league time with the Cleveland Indians. All this is possible thanks to placing P Dave Elder on the 7 day DL with a forearm strain. For scouting reports on these two new players, be sure to check out Patriotsbaseball.com’s PatriotsPlus.

The Surf brought back OF Ozzie Timmons. Timmons played with the Surf in 2003 and 2004 and was picked up by the Mets in 2004. Timmons is a great guy and should provide a big boost to the Surf clubhouse.

Lancaster signed P Jeff Hundley. Hundley has time with the Angels, Brewers and Orioles organizations and fills the spot opened up when P Brent Hoard was placed on the inactive list. Hundley has reached Triple-A twice.

The Riversharks released OF Kyle Logan.

Scoreboard: The Nashua Pride batted around and scored six runs with the only one base hit in the third inning en-route to a 10-3 victory over the Newark Bears Monday night at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium, the opener of a seven-game homestand for Newark…The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Somerset Patriots 5-1 in front of 1,082 fans at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday evening…The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers, 5-2 in front of 5,704 fans at Citibank Park on Monday night. Camden beat the Surf, 3-2.

New Addition to Ashmore’s Update: Turns out I missed one after all. P Kane Davis, who spent parts of the last two seasons with the Riversharks, is currently pitching with the very same Nashville Sounds of the PCL that Surf catcher Mike Rivera was assigned to a week or so ago. He is 2-1 with an ERA of 2.82 with 1 save. In 22.1 innings, he has 28 K’s.

Davis has MLB time with the Indians, Rockies, Brewers and Mets. He struggled with the Indians organization last year, posting an ERA of 6.23 in 31 games at Triple-A Buffalo. Those struggles continued to Spring Training this year, where Davis posted an ERA of 40.50 in two games with Milwaukee. Good to see it seems like he has all that behind him.

Big thanks to the Riversharks fan who pointed this out!

10Q Watch: Be on the lookout for a great Ten Questions coming up with Scott Sobkowiak. The former Braves farmhand and I break down his lone Major League game batter by batter, among many other great features. Sobkowiak was gracious enough to give me 25 minutes of great material before Sunday’s game in Somerset, and I can’t say enough about how good of a guy Sobkowiak is. You’ll be really interested to hear his thoughts on Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone, with almost a surprisingly honest breakdown of his thoughts on Mazzone. Really good stuff…I’ll always say when I think my stuff sucks (and one of my most recent ones did) but this one was really excellent.
