Former Atlantic League players Bill Pulsipher and Jose Offerman are trying to win roster spots with the Cardinals and Phillies, respectively. Pulsipher has appeared in six games so far this spring, collecting one save and allowing zero runs in eight innings of work. While far from a lock to make the big league team, there’s a lot of talk that the former Duck will start the year in St. Louis. Offerman, who spent 2003 with Bridgeport and 2004 with the Minnesota Twins, is hitting .286 in 15 games. He only has one extra-base hit, however, and has driven in three runs. Offerman has a hard road ahead of him if he wants to make the Phillies, but I’ll be among the first to know, as I’ll be attending Opening Day on April 4th. If he is there, I’ll try to snap a picture or two for everyone. – Mike Ashmore.
